Jointing Sand Stabilisers
17171717
Paving “Jointing Sand Stabilisers” are not normally the same thing as a “Paving Sealer” as they are more specifically designed to penetrate into the sand and bind the grains together between the ‘flexibly’ laid blocks (which simply means that the blocks are laid on a bed of compacted sand / aggregate and not laid ‘rigidly’ into concrete or mortar). ,p> This effectively ‘stabilises’ the sand filled joints, which helps to prevent the jointing sand being extracted by weathering and mechanical cleaning operations, such as vacuum sweeping and power washing. Therefore paving jointing sand stabilising products need to be less penetrative but tougher and more flexible and elastic than surface sealers in order to bind the sand particles together and accommodate the natural flexing and movement of flexibly laid block paving.

A correctly formulated jointing sand stabilising product such as the ‘GftK vdw 870’ (acrylic resin based, water dispersed jointing sand stabiliser) or for even higher performance: ‘Resiblock Superior’ (aromatic polyurethane resin based and solvent dispersed jointing sand stabiliser).

Resiblock Superior is also the only driveway sealing and sand stabilising product that carries a No Oil Stains Guarantee and is one of our biggest sellers. – This is a high performance sealer and sand stabiliser which will both bind and anchor the sand in place, plus provide a protective coating on the surface of the blocks; whereas paving sealing impregnations and surface coating sealers will have no significant or durable effect on binding the sand in the joints.

For the highest performance in jointing sand stabilising and sealing block paving in commercial and industrial areas such as around docks and harbours, airports and aircraft handling areas, heavy vehicle standing and busy retail car parks for example; we recomment Resiblock 22 - The global leader for demanding paving sealing and sand stabilising applications.

vdw 870 Jointing Sand Stabiliser
GftK's vdw 870 is an acrylic resin based paving jointing sand stabiliser that provides a very useful lower cost and easy to use, water dispersed and environmentally friendly solution for domestic paving sand stabilising applications, such as on patios and pathways or driveways with light vehicles (normal domestic cars and bikes etc.)

GftK’s vdw 870 is a well proven, high solids, acrylic resin based, water dispersed Paving Jointing Sand Stabiliser which is idealfor DIY use on domestic applications. Application of the vdw 870 is simple - after compacting the sand into the joints the vdw 870 is spray applied and then any excess is carefully squeegeed to uniformly cover and penetrate the sand filled joints and then any excess is carefully sponged off. Note: Acrylic sand stabilisers are not designed for use in heavily used commercial or vehicular trafficked areas, or use with a aggressive mechanical or high pressure water cleaning regimes. In these situations we recommend the use of Resiblock Superior and for even heavier duty commercial or industrial exposure, Resiblock 22 is the global leader and recommended for these areas by NCC Streetscape.

Resiblock Superior Original - Gloss
Resiblock Superior Original Gloss, is a solvent dispersed, low viscosity, polyurethane based prepolymer designed to stabilise the jointing sand by bonding the grains together and to the edges of the blocks, and also to seal the surface of concrete block paving. Its penetration is increased by the hydrocarbon solvents that quickly evaporate and then the material cures and hardens through polymerisation with atmospheric and residual moisture.

Resiblock Superior Original Gloss provides: a wet-look finish, will not chip or peel, stops blocks becoming soiled by engine/fuel oils, greatly improves resistance to tyre marking, stops weed and grass growth in the sand joints, prevents staining by drinks and foodstuffs, prevents algae and lichen growth, is extremely weather resistant, hard wearing, durable and long lasting, with a proven worldwide track record.

The sealer is fast curing and hardens though moisture curing of the resin after the solvent has evaporated. It is therefore important that this product is only used on thoroughly dry surfaces, with no rising moisture, and when there is no chance of rain for at least 24 hours we would suggest.

It is essential that Resiblock Superior Original Gloss pentrates ito the surface of the concrete blocks, therefore it must only be applied on porous substrates. The consumption obviously also depends on the porosity of the concrete blocks, together with the size and number of joints; however the first coat is normally applied at around 3 m2 per litre and then the second coat goes much further and this is usually around 6 m2 per litre - As a result professional contractors tend to estimate a total consumption for the necessary two coats as being 2.25 m2 per litre.

Resiblock Superior Natural Matt
Resiblock Superior Natural Matt, is a solvent dispersed, low viscosity, polyurethane based prepolymer, designed to stabilise the jointing sand by bonding the grains together and to the edges of the blocks and seal the surface of concrete block paving. Its penetration is increased by the hydrocarbon solvents that quickly evaporate and then the material cures and hardens through polymerisation with atmospheric and residual moisture.

Resiblock Superior Matt provides: a matt-sheen finish, which will not chip or peel, stops blocks becoming soiled by engine/fuel oils, greatly improves resistance to tyre marking, stops weed and grass growth in the sand joints, prevents staining by drinks and foodstuffs, prevents algae and lichen growth, is extremely weather resistant, hard wearing, durable and long lasting, with a proven worldwide track record.

If you would like to obtain the benefits of Resiblock Superior Original but with a gloss finish that has more of a colour enhancing 'wet-look', then please use Resiblock Superior Original Gloss, which is also available in this online shop.

Its penetration is increased by the hydrocarbon solvents that quickly evaporate and then the material cures and hardens through polymerisation with atmospheric and residual moisture.

Resiblock 22 is the global leader for jointing sand stabilisation on large commercial paving areas such as around docks and harbours, airfields and other large vehicle standing areas and high traffic car parks around shopping centres etc. This product is therefore primarily intended for application on these projects and by trained and experience specialist professional contractors- However if you have similar high performance requirements we can probably train you, or provide the names of a suitably experienced contractor from our extensive customer network - dependent on the specific nature, size and location of your project

A wet-look finish is obtained with Resiblock 22, which is highly resistant to weathering and exposure inclduing running water, high pressure cleaners, jet engine thrusting and heavy vehicle traffic. It will also not chip or peel, stops blocks becoming soiled by engine/fuel oils, greatly improves resistance to tyre marking, stops weed and grass growth in the sand joints, prevents staining by drinks and foodstuffs, prevents algae and lichen growth, is very hard wearing, durable and long lasting, with a proven track record.
